Seeking a portrait of Baron von Berlepsch
He was a bee scientist, made inventions and improvements to bee appliances as well as being a famous author on bees. There was great controversy at the time related to the movable frame inventions between Berlepsch Dzierzon and Langstroth. He wrote in the German bee publication Bienenzeitung.
Thanks in Advance.

Go to Google.de which will get you into the German Google and search under images. Amongst lots of fotos of people two or three portraits came up. Do you know his first name,as two different came up? Good luck. |

Luc,
Thanks for responding.
I stated; "great controversy at the time related to the movable frame inventions between Berlepsch Dzierzon and Langstroth" ...and arguments or disagreements between these three are clearly documented in the bee media of the period.
There was no controversial arguments between Berlepsch Dzierzon, Langstroth and Prokopovich because Prokopovich lived earlier in the century and did not correspond with the aforementioned.
Best Wishes

Controversy or not. Prokopovich invented the frame.
Also there is not much that Berlepsch actually did other than publishing. |

Do you have a source to back up your statement that Prokopovich invented the frame?
Berlepsch did a bit more than publishing. He was a famed writer on bees. He was the first to prove scientifically by the use of microscopes the exactness of Dezierzon's hyphothisis on thenogenesis among bees. He is considered the one of the three founders of modern apicultural science.

Thanks zaunreiter,
I promised some folks asking that I do a Portrait
and Biographical Album about Prokopovich, -I
will have to get working on this.
Thanks for taking such time to gather the links.
Great information! If you know of existing
portraits of Prokopovich, please send them my
way.
Best Wishes,

Conserving wild bees
Research suggests that bumble bee boxes have a very low success rate in actually attracting bees into them. We find that if you create an environment where first of all you can attract mice inside, such as a pile of stones, a drystone wall, paving slabs with intentionally made cavities underneath, this will increase the success rate.
Most bumble bee species need a dry space about the size a football, with a narrow entrance tunnel approximately 2cm in diameter and 20 cm long. Most species nest underground along the base of a linear feature such as a hedge or wall. Sites need to be sheltered and out of direct sunlight.
There is a spectacular display of wild bee hotels here
