This simply appears to be a ploy by industry to bypass the EU moratorium, which was based on sound scientific evidence, and recommended by the European Food Standards Agency.

I have asked those who have posted the 38degrees petition on Facebook to post their concerns on Bayer's Facebook page. Interestingly they have responded. Dave Jackson All the evidence I have looked at which is a lot indicates that sub lethal doses of neonicotinoids adversely affect, honey bees, bumblebees and other species. This is especially true if some fungicides are also involved. A truly honest and open system would mean organic produce not having to be labled and certified as organic but all crops grown using chemical fertilizers and or pesticides/herbicides having to be labled, "Grown using artificial chemicals." I will continue to do all I can to raise awareness of how your company is supplying poisons to an unsustainable agricultural system.

We believe the EU Commission's decision is disproportionate and unjustified. Neonicotinoids are safe when used responsibly and properly.
